Thèmes de recherche
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy provides an unparalleled level of information, at the atomic scale, on systems ranging from molecules in solutions to living organisms. The scope of NMR, however, is limited by it poor sensitivity, as well as the time required to record information-rich multidimensional experiments. We work on the development of fast and sensitive NMR methods for solution-state studies of small molecules. In particular, we exploit and expand the concepts of ultrafast 2D NMR which yields multidimensional spectra in a single scan, as well as hyperpolarisation, which enhances NMR signals by several orders of magnitude. This research is based on fundamental aspects of spin dynamics, with the aim of developing novel approaches to characterise chemical systems and in particular complex mixtures of small molecules. Specific areas of application include metabolomics as well as the monitoring of chemical reactions, including online monitoring by flow NMR.
